calibration

Below is a link to a thread on AVS Forum about calibration. The second page of the thread contains a link from Chris Wiggles to information about using DVE (Digital Video Essentials) to calibrate a display. There exists DVE for DVD and DVE for Blu-ray: be sure to get the Blu-ray version of DVE called DVE: HD Basics. It goes for about $16 at Amazon, but many other places stock the disc. Please be aware that unless you have calibration equipment and know how to use it, you'll only be able to use the User Menu controls to make changes to your display. This will get you in the ballpark, but it will not be to the extent of what a professional or knowledgeable enthusiast will be able to achieve by going into the Service Menu (that last 10% or so of what the display is really capable of).

If you go this route and it doesn't work for you (though I don't know why it wouldn't) or you decide that you would like to have a calibrator come out to work on your display, just click the GO button next to the Display Calibration forum line at the top left of the page located in the link below. That will get you directly to the Display Calibration forum at AVS and there is plenty of info about calibrators -- ones who are in your area and ones who will come to your area. The usual cost is $300 - $500 for a display calibration from a professional calibrator.
