RE: Why do you need a Volume Control on the player? nt

You'd only need it if you were using your BD player as a preamp with analog output set for variable volume, which the Oppo players can do. I did try this with my 103 when my AVR was in for repair. It sounded awful. An old Carver C-1 preamp did a much better job, even though I wasn't able to use my subwoofers (Carver has no sub output--it was made in 1983 or so).
