It would have been helpful to provide the brand and model numbers of the TV and loudspeakers.

Because the 1/8" jack is for earphone use it is thus a variable output, which I will assume you need for the new self-powered speakers. The RCA output might also be variable (you might have to choose between fixed and variable in the TV's menu). If the RCA output is fixed only (for use with a stereo receiver, for example), you do not have a choice.

Both analog outputs likely are connected to the same preamp section in the TV and should sound identical. If the RCA output is variable, choose whichever you feel is more convenient or allows you to use the cables you already own.
