Anyone seen Linklater's Waking Life? Is this something to rent once, or is it something to buy to take in over a couple viewings?
Interesting film in many respects, and one I'm a bit undecided on. I ultimately would say I did like the film with some reservations, although I definitely did not get into all of the vignettes presented in the movie and some of them are easy to dismiss as simplistic cross-sections of Philosophy 101 lectures. I think the film would hit me differently depending on the mood I'm in. You should probably go to www.imdb.com and read the 'user comments' on that forum. I'm sure you'll find love/hate extremes on this one...and I've gotta say that's usually the sign of a film at least worth seeing, whatever you may think of it.

As you can probably tell from my post title, I did not enjoy this movie. The style, like the gimmicky Oliver Stone stuff in "Natural Born Killers" grated after ten minutes. The conservations, upon which hinge the entire movie, are probably as deep and interesting as a community college drop out crowd's after several bong hits. Go to your neighborhood alternative coffeehouse and unobtrusively sit near a group of non-button down types. I bet their speech is much more entertaining. And, hey, I enjoyed "Slackers."
