Oh goodness, that one never did make my local art house. It's on my list of DVDs to see when the new TV arrives. Now DON'T tell me the monster's secret, I wanna be surprised.
I think the film was originally called "Monster", wasn't it?

clearly you don't live in Minnesota.

...my friends Yona and Maren and Thor say it, it sounds like "ooftah" ta me. :-)Thanks for the proper spelling. The Haflings' tea has clearly slowed my mind.

A really good film. The "monster" struck me as modeled partly on John Gardner's Grendel."Ooftah" eh? Sounds Minnesotan to me (I'm in St. Cloud, alias St. Iceberg, alias St. Atavistica).

...that "Ooftah" was an appropriate Nordic response. ;-)I'm in the sunny southland of Indiana (not!), but I have several Norwegian, Icelandic and Swedish heritage friends from Minnesota. And since I've listened to Prairie Home Companion for twenty years, I somehow feel I can venture a few "Northernisms" on occassion.
I made an assumption, just from reviews, that the monster was influenced by Grendel. I hope so - I'm very fond of that book! Looking forward to the movie. The trailers were great.
I missed the reference. That's what I get for posting before I've had sufficient coffee. Or maybe it's brain-lock from this miserable MN weather...
