Sure, it had those "gimme-a-break-no-way-James-could-ever-do-that-in-a-million years" stunts. And, enough stale one-liners to wilt lettuce, BUT it actually felt a bit like to first Bond films. There was a personal involvement to it. Maybe an attempt at character development or whatever. And, it was long--like 2:15. I was surprised.Has somebody switched my pipe tabacco or did anyone else get this familiar feel?

Follow Ups:
The first half-dozen Bond films were mildly entertaining (I'm being kind here) but the series quickly ran out of steam.... by the time Roger Moore took over the franchise was lame beyond believe ("Jaws" and the Redneck Sheriff? Puh-lease!).I think the new movie should have featured Bond fighting martians, pirates, ghosts and robots -- it's just a bunch of fantasy kiddie crap anyway (he has an invisible car in this one?!?) so why even bother dealing with reality?

you're not alone - make it 25 years.a.o. scott (new york times) called it the most satisfying bond movie since "the spy who loved me" (late '70s). the new york times critics are generally tough on movies too (okay, maybe not as tough as victor).
on rottentomatoes, though, about half of the critics didn't dig it.
i haven't seen a bond film in 15 years - should a non-bond fan give this a try?

Hey,The wife and I saw it last night and it was terrible. I've been a James Bond fan every since I saw "The Spy Who Loved Me", and I rather like Brosnan as Bond, but this film just sucked.
1. The plot (as if they ever did make sense) was retarded. I don't want to ruin the film for anyone, but I walked out wondering "what the hell was that about?"
2. TURN THE SOUND DOWN! The theater in Rockville had their system turned to "11" and it was deafening, almost to the point of walking out. Explosions and bullets whizzing past your head are fun, but not when you can barely stand watching a film without putting your hands over your ears.
3. The Bond audience has changed. There were more little kids in the audience with their parents and young teenage girls than I ever remember seeing at a Bond film. Perhaps, I am just getting old.
4. The bad guys are not scary, convincing, clever, funny, etc...
Hell, I liked Drax in Moonraker better than these clowns.
The only bright spot was a great scene with Moneypenny and Bond, but I'll leave that one alone.
Oh, and Halle Berre looked amazing in the Cuba section. She's a total babe, but the one-liners were so lame.
