  Eye candy without pace, character development, drama, or wit. Of course, it is an accepted cultural one-upmanship to tout the worst works of an artist as his greatest...but that is usually outgrown as the poseur graduates from high school.

  Did you buy it? Is it on a DVD? I need to try the later release DVD's, as the one I have sucks - the image quality is substandard most of the time, reducing the effect. I was told the later releases were better, so probably will just buy one.

    Rented it. Tower Records rents for 3 days and only $2.
    It's a 1999 release.

        I have loved Barry Lyndon since it came out in 1974 and have watched it on laserdisc and, now, DVD. But I also love the late Pauline Kael's description of it as "The first coffee table movie".
