The DVD finally arrived. They must have shipped it via stage coach.
The 1943 film is based on Gypsy Rose Lee's best seller, "The G-String Murders" ans stars my favorite hottie of that era, Barbara Stanwick. Except for her talents (acting, singing, dancing) the movie is predictable and somewhat boring. And insofar as it being titillating, I've seen more flesh on the Ed Sullivan show.

Thank you. So I will stay away from it!

Interesting comments, Rico, on Barbara Stanwyck being a favorite "hottie."I've always thought that the one thing she wasn't was "hot"...great actress, in everything from comedey to drama, but not much sex-appeal.
This isn't a very popular opinion in film noir chats, but I think Babs is the weak link that keeps the classic Double Indemnity from being a truly great film (along with the ultra stiff Freddy Mac.).
Interestingly enough, I thought she aged very well, and looked her best late in her career with tv's The Big Valley.
To each his own, I guess.
Regards,
Barbara had a long and extremely varied career. Most agree I think that she was very sexy in such films as "The Lady Eve" and in "Double Indemnity" (your comments on that film notwithstanding).
