(And Moe will be played by Russell Crowe, or maybe Mel Gibson.)Actually the new New Yorker has a *very interesting* article on the story development. And generally I detest all five of 'em...

As a child of single digit age (early 60’s) the Stooges were an after school “must see TV”. They use to come on channel 11 – WPIX in New York with “Officer Joe Bolton” doing the hosting (local announcer dressed in a police uniform and carrying a “nightstick”). Forty years later when AMC was running the Stooges my son (7 at the time) got hooked the same way I did and the reason was the comic genius of the Stooges. That combination of physical humor, sound effects and some of the corniest story lines in history put them in a class by themselves. Now don’t get me wrong I loved Laurel and Hardy (thought some of their shorts were even funnier than the Stooges) but The Stooges have stood the test of time (almost 70 years) and still can make just about anybody laugh. Just my $0.02.

...and another 2 cents...I totaly agree, Dwill. They must have been showing The Stooges "after school" all over America in the early 60's...the host here in Central Ohio was Flippo the Clown, a local lengend and on the air for more than twenty years.
FWIW, I still occassionally see my two grown sons bust a move a la Moe, Larry, and Curley...("hey, pick two").
Regards,
I know there are certainly people who are " Fan " who had them like mother milk...
But for most it will be a brand new film, as the directors knows what they are doing commercially.
As for me they always bored me. But I did like Laurel & Hardy...Bach then!

...they remake everything else these days (Starsk and Hutch, etc).
Thanks for the article, Clark. I've got mixed feelings on this...I AM a fan of The Stooges, at least the films with Curly (I mentioned below that I think he was a genius of physical comedy).
Along with this, I've started to admire the work of Crowe of late...he's much more of an actor than I originally gave him credit for...however, I doubt that he is the least bit "funny"...so, comedy may stretch his acting ability.
The only F. Bros. film that I feel had any merit was Something About Mary...the rest, ufortunately, (imo) were sucessful and dumb and dumber.
Favorite Stooge line...
Curly, as he "shaves" a block of ice in a barber chair:
"So, are you married or happy?"
(you probably have to see it).
Regards,
.
