Pls post great (or fun) Asian movies to watch.Recently watched Hong Kong "Hero" with Jet Li and Tony Leung, and my God, they do do it better than Hollywood.
Hong Kong "Internal Affairs" is very charismatic also.
Japanese "Ju-on" is what the doctor ordered (shrinks!) and there was "Ringu."

Ikiru (1952): my favorite Kurosawa among many greats.

Have to agree with everyone else, there are too many to list. Here are some of my favs (with silly mini summaries, sorry I'm going out soon):
Musa - big Korean epic with great fighting
Bangkok Dangerous - deaf and mute assassin kills stuff and falls in love.
Time and Tide - HK action.
Il Mare - nice romantic Korean film with a tricky twist
Chin-goo (Friend) - Korean gangster/male bonding film.
Into the mirror - Korean thriller/horror, a bit Hollywood but still good.
Shiri (swiri) - Korean action/thriller/romance (the start is very violent, but it gets better)
Singles - Korean romantic comedy with an ultra-cute lead.
9 Souls - Japanese jail break film following a group of 9 cons. You slowly learn all their stories, swinging from very funny to very sad.
Men Suddenly in Black - Like infernal affairs (many of the same cast) or Reservoir dogs but the guys are trying to party and cheat on their wives.
Hidden Track - HK quirky romantic comedy about a girl trying to track down the song of her last failed relationship (some people really hated this, so only go if you like dumb love stories).
Vertical Ray of the Sun - Vietnamese drama romance of a family. It has a very languid pace that seems to fit the steamy setting nicely.
The Killer - Chow Yun Fat kills stuff.
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust - if you can get past the fact that its animated then its brilliant.
Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' On Heavens Door - I loved the tv series so I do have bias but I loved it (great music too).
Ju-on: The Grudge - spooky Japanese horror.
Dark Water - as above.
Ôdishon - Japanese romance goes horribly wrong (not for the squemish, but I think I heard that the US release was cut so you might not get it so bad).
Brother - Takeshi Kitano goes to America.
Zatoichi - Takeshi Kitano + sword - vision.
Battle Royal - lord of the flies needed machine guns, Japan came to the rescue.
hmmm I might add some more later but I'm out of time now.
I've seen a good chunk of that list.
Aren't all region players great?
enjoy,
JackPS. while most have seen it already, for the truely bizzarre, I recomend "Uzumaki"

Yiyi - Taiwanese Family drama (cute kid).
The road home - lovely romance set in rural China (Zhang Ziyi too).
Hard Boiled - Chow Yun Fat shoots more stuff.
In the Mood for Love - wkw romance.
Millennium mambo - Rather depressing Taiwanese drama (Shu Qi is hott).
Hollywood Hong-Kong - a prostitute and a family BBQ pork seller (Zhou Xun plays the prostitute - the blind girl from the Emperor and the Assassin – I love her)
Tears of the Black Tiger – Thai romantic western on crack.

there're too many...two recent ones just off the top my head are:
The Emperor and the Assasin (aka The First Emperor)
The Little Chinese Seamstress (breath-takingly lush scenics + cultural revolution era atmospherics)

Without knowing more specifically the genre, period, style it is hard to recommend. Maybe In the Realm of Senses will float your boat, or - on the opposite end of spectrum - The Sea is Watching? Who knows? But please don't wake up Steve... you will get a five hundred title list.

Il Mare (Korea)-good love story, but *very* slow paced.
The Eye (hk) HK's version of the sixth senseNote: Marimax is buying up the US rights for many of the better asian movies, which means it will be more difficult to get them.
Go-Joe: Japanese stylish samurai/supernatural
Sorekara: (And Then) Japanese, based on the Natsume Soseki novel, one of Yusaku Matsudas last films (Japans James Dean)
Shuri: Korean thriller, the same director did "JSA", Joint Security Area, which was also a major hit in Japan and also a very good film
