Believe it or not I had never seen the entire film so I watched it last night. Judy Davis' performance is stunning, and the mystery of what happened to her is much like that in "Picnic at Hanging Rock". I believe this was David Lean's last film. The cinematography is stunning, as is the sound. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

I heard a voice recording of EM Forster once, where he said something along the lines of "People are basically worthless and base."I guess if you read between the lines, the "beautiful" books by EM Forster, including "Passage to India," reveals his outlook on the human condition.

Yes it was his last film. He was 76 by then.
I am just reading the part of his life when he did it.
And like you I always saw some part of it, as far I remember.
