From the trailers that I've seen, this movie looks (to me) like a real piece of crap. A lot of star power and a clever look, but not much of a premise. I see that Roger Ebert has given it 4 starts. I generally don't pay much attention to Ebert's ratings, but his generous review surprised me. (Usually the only time that his reviews really interest me are when they are very high or very low.)Any of you guys had a chance to see Sky Captain yet- comments?
TIA.

I saw it and was disapointed. After about an hour or so it just seems flat. It was (for me) a combination of the uninspired acting, the dim sepia tone cinematography, and the vintage comic book story line.

....and The World Of Tomorrow was filmed in the world of tomorrow using actual sky captains.'
I didn't like it at all. Wall to wall vis fx, which I don't care for.
Entire film is very dark and sepia tone to try and give a 1930's feel. It's hard to watch for 2 hours. It's a Buck Rogers. I never liked Buck Robers even as a kid. If you like Buck Rogers go see it, if you didn't, skip it.

The film looks more challenging than the ads give it credit, both from an acting standpoint and as pure family entertainment (i.e., think: original Star Wars, before Lucas' revisions). If you are looking for Bergman, don't bother, but if you're up for a fast paced serial-style thrill ride in an atmospheric 30's setting this just might be the best fun around. I'm reserving judgment, because I'm not sure how the sepia toned world will wear over nearly 2 hours, but I'm optimistic.Keep in mind that this isn't a review, just expectations based on the extended scenes I've seen and making of material (i.e., viewed on my 6' screen & DLP projected), but I'm going to see Sky Captain in the world of tomorrow, as in Saturday! ;^)
...in the SF Bay area said it's mediocre with marginal special effects and doesn't get interesting until Angelina Jolie shows up. Sounds like a video rental to me.

I plan to see it soon. The critic in the Boston Herald who is tough on everything gave it a rave. It sounds like a lot of fun.
