I can't resist a spectacle. Had to go. Was only mildly disappointed and not shocked. Think the man groping comments are off base. Stone has never been able to tell a straight story and this is proof. He tries to enlighten us to the complexities of Alexander's life by showing us more than we need to know. In fact, the work was so burdened with dialog and background material that we loose the real granduer for which Alexander is known: military commander and superman. If the average knuckle-dragger goes loping in to see lots of sword play and blood he best look elsewhere.
Follow Ups:
I'm not even sure about dvd on this one -- haven't seen it. Too bad though because Stone brought on board one of the world expert biographers from Cambridge (I believe Cambridge, or perhaps it was Oxford) who is renowned for his work on Alexander.Personally, I'd rather get some substance and content versus another "Troy" action flick. Saw King Arthur on the airplane last night and it was even a greater turkey than I had expected. I guess that's ok since I wasn't able to reach the emergency door of the plane.
