Oh, man. Saw that movies when I was young. Thought it really stuck but I will never forget those cheesy lines. Don't forget his other movies as well, for example, Blazing Saddles: "We offer you a laurel and hardy handshake ..."

.... when Titanic is chock-full of cheesy lines, and "I'm the king of the world" isn't even the worst. Some more examples:- Rose to Jack as they are clinging to the stern rail of the nearly-vertical ship, about to drown, watching 100's of people drop to their deaths: "Jack, this is where we first met!"
- "You unimaginable bastard!"
- "I guess you could say I'm just a tumbleweed blowin' in the wind."
- "I can still smell the fresh paint. The china had never been used. The sheets had never been slept on. Titanic was called the 'Ship of Dreams'. And it was. It really was."
- "You're not going to die. Not here, not this night."
I could go on and on. At least as far as Oscar winners, it wasn't as bad as "Lord of the Rings" though.
Yes Titanic had a few good moments, I think particulary at the long travelling under water when the past comes alive.
I have posted before that I'm not ashamed to say that I LIKE Cameron's "Titanic" and am waiting for a five hour anamorphic DTS director's cut. I also have the Barbara Stanwick version and of course "A Night to Remember". I also have a documentary on the sinking.
More than a bit of the old Hollywood movie magic in that one. I can't help but wonder how much better it could have been if Cameron had outsourced the screenplay-the man just can't write dialogue, IMO.A Night to Remember is a terrific film-and you reminded me I have yet to see the Stanwyck version from 1953. I'll put that in the netflix queue.
I do not have the Titanic but the two others, the English film being the best.
And yes, the current DVD of the movie is horrendous. I will consider buying an anamorphic DVD when it comes out, but I believe that Cameron has called the theatrical version his final director's cut. Given that this version won 11 Academy Awards and is the all-time king of the box office, I don't think he'll tinker with it. Look at the hell Lucas caught for "improving" the original Star Wars movies with about 1 minute of extra footage and some minor added effects.I'm sure a new Titanic DVD will contain deleted scenes, some depicting historical events (the attempt to contact the Californian) and some related to the fictional love story (fight between Jack and Hockley's valet in the flooded dining room). And there should be some interesting documentaries on the real Titanic story and on the making of the movie as well as some interesting running commentary on the film.
If it's reasonably priced, I'll skulk into the video store to buy it. Perhaps I'll sandwich it between a couple of pornos to avoid the shame...
To be fair, the whole movie sucked bit time, but that episode, man, that episode! The puky puke and the stupidity of it!Great nomination!
How did almost anything Keanu Reeves has ever uttered/mumbled miss this list? Throw in Nicholas Cage in "Con Air" too. I would have included Cage's entire body of work but he gets a pass for "Birdy" and "Adaptation".
Just about any line Keanu has ever delivered could make the list---"Dracula" and "Speed" come to mind first...
