I have been intentionally staying away from the Netflix. Early reports on the service were rather bad (people just couldn't get the movies they wanted). Apparently the situation is better now.
A close friends have used it for the last year and they are happy... and they like basically the same movies as I do... the kind some here consider "obscure". So apparently the store now has pretty good selection.

service is great, price is sensational. I've had it for about 7 mos. I've just signed my daughter up, and she says it's the best gift I've ever given her (better than 2 cars?).

I've been using Netflix for the past year. Usually new release / popular movies are sometimes difficult or there is a 2 or 3 week wait.
Older and less known movies are usually readily available.
They have a rather good selection of foreign films and since I watch a lot of Asian (Hong Kong, China, Japan, Korea) I always can find something interesting or unusual.
I generally get my DVDs in 2 days so I always have a "fresh" supply of 3 DVDs ready for viewing.

I tried it when it first started, and I was not happy with it. I've heard that it has improved greatly.
