  Cary Grant the choice from the old timers?

  See how he wears khakis in "Only Angels Have Wings" or the soldier's uniform in "Gunga Din" or a woman's nightgown in "Bringing Up Baby" or his suit in "North by Northwest."

  The man could look great in damn near anything.

  Its easy to look good in a suit(hmmm, after the funeral I went to the other day I'd better qualify that statement), but would Andy Garcia or Armand Assante look as good in the variety of clothes that Grant did?

  Reflect on your statement, Victor, and realize that the third name you mention is the answer to the title of your post!

    He took risks in the way he dressed...a simple striped tie used as a belt, pants rolled with a pair of red socks, and no one wore a tux and looked as at ease in it as he did. Classic, elegant and timeless.   Gary Cooper was/is the model for all male film stars and nobody will ever come close.

  Cary Grant dressed very well, after copying outfits worn by Cooper.

  Not only did Cooper wear the "right" clothes, he looked the part.
