L. De caprio. A poor choice to play Howard Hughes. Looks nothing like HH , & HH mannerisims seem forced, almost like a SNL skit.
All IMHO. What was M. Scorcese thinking?
L.D. a very talented actor, but still comes across as somebodys 17 year old brother. Not Howard Hughes.

Follow Ups:
stated that DiCaprio had secured the rights and had developed it and then approached Martin about directing. Had Scorsese developed/researched/produced this project, I really doubt he would have put DiCaprio in the lead. Leo was thrust upon him and you know, right now, DiCaprio has the studio clout to get his projects greenlighted. He's Tom Cruise Jr. 'Full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing.'

Poor Leo will probably look and sound 17 until he's 40. There's no way I could adjust to him as HH. They might as well have pasted a mustache on Britney and put her in the role. What were they thinking?

would be PG-13?Will wait for the directors cut.

He's okay in some roles. But since you've brought up Leo being miscast, how about the Gangs of New York?
Though I enjoyed that movie, I still think he isn't a credible protagonist OPPOSITE THE CHARACTER PLAYED BY DANIEL DAY LEWIS.
He simple wasn't tough enough--physically or mentally. Since Leo was (mis)cast in the role of an immigrant (Irish, wasn't it?), I think Colin Farrell would have been perfect. He's Irish, he's a barroom brawler type, etc. (Agreed before it's brought up--Alexander the Great had an empire full of problems . . .)

I thought gangs of new york would have been better if LDC and DDL's roles were swapped. DDL can convey emotion more sincerely which makes an audience empathize more readily while most folks have an easy time hating LDC.Gangs isn't going to be looked upon as one of Scorsese's finer films. He also needs to stop working with LDC. I'm going in to Avaitor with luke warm expectations.
Huh? Day-Lewis nailed the part. Swapping roles? Idiotic. Leo was fine in Gangs playing the part of a feral youth. The film's problems had more to do with story arc and pacing.
