Entertaining fluff is most that you can say about it. Not boring, if you have time, but ridiculous in spots. Done well and with just enough character depth to keep you interested. Several good actors... excluding the everyone's darling Dunst. Although she played well.Of course it gives a VERY different picture of the afair, and if I had to choose one, I would go with "The Hearst and Davies Affair" with Robert Mitchum and Virginia Madsen - the one played by Edward Herrman is just too neuratic.
Probably marginally worth paying rental for it, but if caught on a cable - you could do whole lot worse.

Much in the same vein, take a look at Hud, where Particia Neal plays simply superbly, and the whole film is grabbing.I am not a great fan of PB, but The Last Show is good indeed.

Directed by Martin Ritt, or am I just stating the obvious?
