I haven't seen Meet the Fokers, but it seems that Stiller has made a career out of making the same movie over and over. While I enjoyed a few of his earlier ones, the last 3 or 4 have become pretty formulaic (is that a word?) and predictable and well, just boring. I don't expect Stiller's movies to be anything more than entertaining. But I don't think the recent ones even qualify. Plus he casts himself in every filck, and again, plays a very similar role over and over.

Follow Ups:
As Larry David's ongoing antagonist in Curb Your Enthusiasm last season. And in Flirting with Disaster he plays a genuinely sweet guy enmeshed in the gears of a weird life. The last fifteen minutes feature Lily Tomlin, Alan Alda (whom I can definitely do without otherwise) and others in one of the most hilarious segments ever filmed, worthy of the Marx Brothers.
But basically I can't stand the guy.
Yes, Flirting with Disaster was very funny. While I had a hard time getting through the first 1/3 of the movie, once they got to the hippie house it really was hilarious.
No one is forcing you to watch him.The movies landscape is littered with garbage far worse than him. Best approach is not to ask for its removal, but render it irrelevant by not paying any attention to it.
I keep repeating that I simply don't send any of my dollars to those I find objectinable. That is the most effective way.

And repeating your position does nothing to convince others that are still willing to give some American movies a chance.

You started by wanting to get rid of the guy... only to later deciding to give him another chance.Maybe you expected some sort of authority to step in and remove him? While all you have to do is stop watching him.
For as long as you and others will keep giving "second chance" to those who fooled you before there will be bad actors and bad films.
And yes, I will keep repeating my position that you vote with your dollars, and we would not have trash that we have swimming in money if not for us... no one is forcing us to support it.

What are you talking about?

Let's see, here's what he's been up to since 'The Royal Tenenbaums', which I really loved for Anderson's style as a director (and the only film I've seen of his).
Meet the Fockers
Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story
Envy
Starsky & Hutch
Along Came Polly
I think you'll like it. Then again, you might not. I loved it and I'm still not 100% sure why.

try as I might, I don't get Sandler's appeal.

Makes me run for the remote.

...it's directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and Sandler plays against type.
I am with you on this one...Sandler...just cannot fathom the appeal. Stiller can be funny most of the time.

Sandler? I can not stand that guy. I do not even watch him on the SNL reruns, much less go to his movies. Certainly a lot of people do find him funny, given the fact that he keeps putting out movies, but I never have. For me the big difference is that I have never cared for Sandler, but I did enjoy Stiller's stuff up to a few years ago.

Me? I've had it. Would like to see him on Broadway in a Eugene O'Neil play. Maybe Long Days Journey Into Night? Test his acting skills. I think he'd be perfect for a 10 minute run...mayben captain of the USS Eneterprise? He's harmless. I won't pay. There lies the power....
