Had to join Netflix to get this baby. Now I'm hooked. (on Netflix, that is) anybody remember this movie? Again, saw it years ago and loved it. It's going to be my New Year's Eve movie. I hope it does it for me as an adult...Alan Bates, as I remember, was, as usual, fabulous...

Remember it? I lived on it as a teen. I loved it. Bar far my favorite movie back then from the first time I saw it to many times after that. I would pretty much just go into Manhattan to see it whenever it played there. It was such a beautiful film. I guess thinking about it now it predates Cuckoos Nest. But it was an anti-war movie most of all.
The guy with the mustache cutting hair. So into being a barber and getting the chance. Some of the women were beautiful. The comment: "I think they're overacting" to the troops killing each other was a great one.
I haven't seen the movie in about 20 years. So I don't know how I would feel about it today.
If you like movies with that type of emotional undercurrent, you have probably seen already "Forbidden Games", another anti-war movie, Pather Pacheli", a great, great, film, and from the director of that great emotional masterpiece "Bicycle Thief", "Miracle in Milan".
