although I felt like the film dragged on FOREVER, it ended in a very wierd spot...Also, I just cannot accept Leo as Hughes or in anything else for that matter. Scorcese has lost it IMHO...The Age of Innocence was his last really good film. I did think the flying sequences were well filmed and Cate Blanchett was wonderful as K. Hepburn. Can't imagine what Scorcese was thinking when casting Beckinsale as Ava Gardner....

Follow Ups:
of Innocence heroically was underrated: it holds up well.
Raging Bull: who the fuck cares about Jake LaMotta? Kind of like making a 2-hr. documentary about a slug. No matter how clever it's still not of human interest---except to zoologists.
And, as a guy who's attended many fights at ringside...that's taking artistic license way over the top: if it was that horrendous, no one's career would exceed one 3-minute round.
Kate B.= Ava Gardner. Right. But if you can suspend disbelief and picture Leo as Howard, you've already surrendered to La-La land...
(And if one more fucking light bulb popped at 105 db I was going scream!)
