Having very much enjoyed Get Shorty, my son and I saw its Be Cool "sequel" this past weekend. Don't make the same mistake we did. It is nothing like Get Shorty, which had a consistently witty tone, a delicate touch and a sure sense of what is "cool." Be Cool is painfully unamusing and a clueless insult to the original. The film is so preposterous that the actor known as the Rock is the only character who escapes with any dignity. Travolta, Keitel, Thurman et al should be praying that no one else sees this "Alan Smithee" special. Be afraid.

Follow Ups:
Pretty hard to top EL as a source for those types of flicks....
Agreed! I saw into this awful piece in the first two minutes. Travolta has NEVER looked more.......bored? Uninterested? Uninvolved. The only fun was the over the top performances by some of the supporting players --- The Rock, Vince Vaughn, Cedric the Entertainer. What a self-conscious, gratuitous effort by Steven Tyler. James Wood -- wasted. The thing is, I had the feeling that the producer, Danny Devito, and the director, F. Gary Gray, knew what a weak , weak effort it was; the "outtakes" shown under closing credits was the clue here. This movie is not just bad, it's a real cheat.
