You want arty violence? Go no further, this is your cup of blood.
Sure, the 2 hours went by fast; this IS entertaining.
But, the viciousness of the protagonists (they REALLY enjoy mutilating and torturing their victims) makes rooting for them an
impossibility. In other words, after a few minutes, you don't really care what happens to anyone in this film---with one exception. And she also becomes "tainted."
It falls way short of the "Bills" but way ahead of Natural Born Killers.
The extremely stylized look of the movie seemed oddly appropriate and not a self-conscious ploy, as it was in that horrendous Mel Gibson revenge pic a few years ago, or the aleready mentioned NBK.
Skip this one if you're squeamish at all. In this post-Zarquawi world, it strangely doesn't seem as horrifying and shocking as the writer and directors may have hoped.

Follow Ups:
it was basically a carbon copy of the comics, the way Frank Miller wanted it done. For good or for bad, it is what it is and that's a truthful rendition of the original 'script'.
Rourke's, "I ain't got all night", in the electric chair brought the house down. (I enjoyed his sequence the most.) Harnett's bookends and the "Pulp Fiction" wrap-around were nice touches I haven't seen in a while.Yeah, it's violent but in a forgiveable, comic book way.

Jessica Alba. :)
That's why I rarely venture Outside anymore... The regular asylum can be tough enough to deal with. ;)
