Sandra Bullock has a small part in this adaptation of the John Grisham novel but gets lead billing anyway. Mathew McConaghy plays a down and out Mississippi attorney who takes on the defense of a double revenge slaying by Samuel L. Jackson of two men who raped his 10 year old daughter. Kevin Spacet plays the D.A. who has a spotless conviction record. Bullock arrive for free to supply McConaghy with legal precedents and trial assistance. The local NAACO trries to bump McConaghy off the case but he manages to stay on. I found thew ending a bit far fetched but enjoyed the film as a whole. Chris Cooper has a small part as a deputy who loses his leg in the slay attempt by Jackson.
Follow Ups:
.... sporting some blond like she did in Heat. Too bad she had such as small role, playing MM's wife.

didn't Bullock's character disappear toward the end of the movie with no resolution of her story line?? Or I may be dreaming. Anyway, not a bad adaptation of Grisham's pretty damn good novel. Beat Hell out of The Firm adaptation. Still think I liked Rainmaker better and that one with Roy Scheider (vastly underrated actor IMHO) as the sleazy insurance executive.
