I was born in the 50s: would you believe I haven't seen this baby? Just watched another "never saw" --The Sand Pebbles. LOA is a long one. Will require a couple of days to see the whole deal...

Follow Ups:
My wife and I rented LOA about a year. As a sucker for historic epic type films, I anticipated I would really like it (I also like Peter O'Toole). However, we were both bored. This isn't to deny it may be a "classic" movie.
But The Sand Pebbles--I liked it so much I bought it. Just a real fine movie. So far, it is the only movie I own starring Steve McQueen. A real person, not one of those Hollywood-kid-type actors. Just an opinion.
"Outrageous! Outrageous!" Okay, so you probably haven't gotten to that scene toward the end. "Lawrence" is one of my favorites. Rico is right about the photography, just stunning. The trick--to paraphrase--is not minding that it's overrated.

Let us know what you think. I think it is highly over-rated myself (although beautifully photographed).

It is even boring at times, but still one of those must see films.
