I bought the former after enjoying the recent "The Interpreter by director Pollack. "...Condor is very good but IMHO not as good as the recent effort. This led me to rewatch "Tootsie", a comedy by the same director. "Tootsie" is a charming film and has quite a large part for Pollack as an actor (he plays Dustin Hoffman's agent). This time through I laughed aloud at Bill Murray's deadpan performance and ad libbed witty lines. The entire cast shines here and this one is the best of the three.

Follow Ups:
For some strange reason the COndor has been getting a lot of attention here lately. I thought it was boring in the extreme.Tootsie... I wasn't at all taken by it then. Would it show better today? I kind of doubt, but I would reserve my judgement.

Tootsie...Three years ago I had another go at it. Well it is much weaker as it was back then. Too seventies. Still worth a show.

and the big revelation scene at the end still makes me laugh out loud, as does Jessica Lange's reaction shot to Dorothy's bedtime attire. To me, Dustin Hoffman is completely believable, and he simply disappears into the role of Dorothy.

Along with the Conversation, I think. Paranoic surveilance thrillers? Go figure.

I'm a sucker for those 60's-70's-80's espionage/technothriller flavored thriller/suspense films, like:All The President's Men
Three Days of the Condor
The Conversation (own it on DVD, in the background of one of the shots you can see them building the WTC, which adds to the creepiness)
The Parallax View (King of the paranoid thrillers)
The China Syndrome (Weak story, but still fun)
Wargames (Fluffy, but fun, and cool shots of Hollywood-NORAD)
Blow Out
Seven Days in May (the original)
The Manchuraian Candidate (Ditto)
The Andromeda Strain (Semi-scifi, probably Crichton's best)
Topaz (Not Hitchcock's best, but still good)
The Package
The Fourth Protocol (Not bad)

I forgot to mention that a line from "Three Days of the Condor" also appears in "The Interpreter" as well as two or three other Pollack films. That line is "You think that not being caught in a lieis the same as telling the truth". Pollack mentions this in his Charlie Rose interview, where he also observes that "Most movies are lousy, including some of mine".
