Russell Crowe stars as a kidnap hostage negotiator who works for one of a handful of competetive companies world wide in that line of work. Just as he is assigned to help find and secure Meg Ryan's kidnapped oil executive husband in a fictional Soth American country the oil company itself is being taken over and budget cuts dissolve the contract with Crowe's firm. He quits but comes back on his own shortly thereafter to help Ryan and her family. Directed by Taylor Hackford ("Ray") the film has two terrific action sequences and a believable plot and story. Recommended.
