The Boston Herald review by James Vernier:George Lucas must have finally used the Force.
``Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith'' - the final installment in his landmark series - is without doubt the best of the three most recent films.
That's not exactly high praise, although the film is certain to end the current box-office slump.-----------------------------------------------
Worth reading especially for the chilling final two paragraphs.

When I came here, I didn't know better. I have read aplenty about the SW in Russia, and all glowing shit. So when the Return of Jeda (sp?) came out I went with my daughter. To say it was boring... I will spare you. I am so sorry I gave them my $$ so they could continue making that dreck.
Together with James Bond movies this one did its darnest to drop the America's standing as a cultural giant in my mind.

As the opening credits in the first Star Wars film explains, it takes place in a galaxy far, far, away.

Maybe Patrick and others could comment on them from other country's perspectives. In the USSR you could not get them. One of a few good things about the restrictive Soviet culture... methink. There was no problem finding a Fellini, though.

Patrick´s comment.Yes there where more English than American, no wonder Ian was the perfect " look at me I am English " and if you compare to the books as far as the two or three first movies goes, Sean was the perfect match.
Of course it is kid stuff, but back then I did love them so the books too.
Now it is only nostalgia.
Just curious. You didn't mention it in your comments. It is spelled "Jedi," by the way.

I have only seen bits and pieces of the original. I don't think it is anything special, but given its unique - at that time - nature, I think if kept alone it would maintain a special standing. But that of course was not the intention... I believe they made $9B?

To wit:Also, while we’re here, what’s with the screwy syntax? Deepest mind in the galaxy, apparently, and you [Yoda] still express yourself like a day-tripper with a dog-eared phrase book. “I hope right you are.” Break me a fucking give.

Or was it two thumbs way up? Ebert has ZERO credibility. The joke is on us. Lousy reviewers, reviewing lousy movies.Signed, I might see it .... I might not see it .... I really don't care (man I need a vacation).

"the final installment in his landmark series - is without doubt the best of the three most recent films. "Reminds me of a line from They Might Be Giants:
"We were once so close to heaven
Peter came out and gave us medals
Declaring us the nicest of the damned"
