In the theatre, the look of the film was striking and beautiful in its detailed starkness. HDTV at home conveys some of it, but Spielberg made sure the theatre experience would be hard to duplicate on DVD or at home.

I agree with you about the choice of fim stock. I saw it in the theater and also have the DVD. I think that the DVD looks pretty much like the theatrical release on my ISF calibrated SONY CRT RPTV.
