I'm trying to recall an underground-style (maybe with cult following) film/film director. Have no idea of name, but I remember the basic storyline:
A down-and-out type was playing host to some Romanian cousin. It was done in a very gritty way with low-key (almost amateurish) filming BUT rawly realistic. I don't think either of them were 'stars'
Thanks for your help. If you know of it, can you provide a link to the director, too?

    ...for a staunchly-independent film director. Meaning he is still off the radar for most people. But the National Society of Film Critics voted "Stranger Than Paradise" as the Best Film of 1984.

        Jarmusch has been nominated and won several Golden Palms and special jury prizes from Cannes. But the average moviegoer in America wouldn't know him. They barely know Gus Van Sandt.
