There seems to be a curious lack of discussion of this movie on here. I recently saw it and thought it was an excellent film. Good acting and direction. A real natural style with a lot of depth . The photography is first class. Some may have trouble with the subject matter but the quality of the film seems to make you focus on real people dealing with real feelings . Whens the last time you saw a film that did that?

...it still ended up in the top ten for the weekend -- with the highest per-screen take in a decade. For my part, not yet having seen the movie, the Annie Proulx short story was terse and exceptionally moving.

It's owned by a group of gays (men and women) and the independent and foreign shelves have lots of "sleeper" titles there. It amazes me how much of that stuff is cranked out every year.

*Queer Cinema is so insidious I have to be careful in my favorite video store*...they put those anti-theft metallic strips in ALL their titles, not just the gay triple xxx stuff. You may have to go to another store before you get caught.
