I cannot strongly enough recommend "Withnail and I" to you. It is the absolute best depiction of the sixties. You will recommend several of the actors, unknown when the film was made, that were catapulted to "character actor" longevity as a direct result of this film.
Don't drink a good wine when you're watching it, though.

Well I did not have that kind of problem, as the two of them are perfectly strangers to me.
I just saw it last night on my friend's home theater, we watched the theatrical version.I thought the first half was decent, but at 2 hours the plot was stretched thin. It would have been a good 1.25 hour movie, with some of the lame comedy bits and a couple plotlines removed or truncated.

Hollywood loves simple formulae that works, and here is one that works every time!Remember that 45 minute rape scene in the Irreversible? By this rule next film must be full 90 minutes of rape - that will be a box office success... guaranteed!
Actually I remember late in the night to have seen an excerpt of the rape scene, who make the annual " scandale " at Cannes.

It follows the reverse time line, like the Memento, so it can be confusing until you get the grip on what's going on. However it also shows what the over-indulgence can do.
WC is just ordinary funny. Nothing here really new with the exception that it is an Hollywood film.
But what a fun!PS: I did not see "Irreversible" just read the critics back then...And I was not too keen to see it. Well if it comes my way...
