I loved this guy. He never rose to the top as a lead (at least in movies I saw), but damn he was good at what he did. Perfect in Footloose as well as Reservoir Dogs.

From the looks of it, Chris was in many movies - a lot more than I had associated him with.
He was great in Short Cuts

Grin,The wife and I were in Saratoga Springs back in November and we ran into
Chris Penn who was filming a movie.By the look of him - he was very heavy and walking with great difficulty...not in great shape.
I liked him. Far less annoying than his brother.

in your same profession must have been a heavy load to carry.
Outside of Reservoir Dogs, he was most convincing in At Close Range, starring his brother. This movie is one of the most underrated. Walken is at his best and plays Sean's dad. Their scenes are classics.

I think it's one of the creepiest Walken roles ever... before he became a paorody of himself. When young angel faced Chris Penn yells "Dad!". I get chills. Good movie-great cast. Let's not forget Crispin Glover! Now I want to watch it again. Although the 80's synth soundtrack and Madonna song wears thin.

and foreshadows his brother's in Mystic River, "Is that my daughter in there?"
