I just saw this in a matinee with many small children. You could hear a pin drop, so rapt were they. It's a Disney film set mostly in Anarctica. It involves eight sled dogs, six huskies and two malamutes, who are left chained outside in the approaching winter when the base is evacuated because of an accident involving one of the humans in the party. Highly reommended.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Anybody who loves dogs will do the same. The dogs are simply magnificent.
Yes, there is some hokey stuff--can we say "killer seal," but still an enjoyable movie.
I didn't read reviews before seeing the movie.
Later I learned about the real event, of which the movie is "inspired by a true story." Apparently, back in 1957-58, two Japanese research scientists had to abandon their base, and they left 15 dogs chained up. When they returned many months later, they were thrilled that two (count 'em!) dogs had survived.
