I must be missing something. I *liked* The Insider and Last of the Mohicans. Colateral was OK. Ali stank. The Keep was unwatchable. I don't see the greatness here.

in years....It was IMO unjustly overlooked at the Oscars....Day-Lewis is another whose talent I find amazing...

Probably a testament to the crap trying to be passed off on us as cinema these days that Michael Mann is now at the top of the heap. Not that I could do it any better, but it seems that the proverbial bar keeps getting lower and lower.

Mann also did Manhunter, the original movie about Hannibal Lector and better than Silence of the lambs, which got great reviews but I agree it does not make him one of the best...
