The remake missed the essential quality the original had - the "aliens" were just subtly different in the original. Uncle Joe was just not Uncle Joe anymore but there was an inexpressible difference.

In the remake, we have a beer guzzling rabid sports fan husband turn into a lackadaisical drone. That aspect of the remake sorely misses the essence of what is frightening.

Even your recently reviewed "Fallen" was hip to that . That's why I'll always prefer the original Invasion.
