Ebert compared it to "All the President's Men" in importance. I certainly agree with you about Dawson.

Everyone was good in this - Dawson, Sevigny, Christianson. Poor lad, he gets accused of no acting chops on account of SWs, but this film proved otherwise. Gotta consider the material.
