see her promise in "National Velvet" and the full flower of her brilliance in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf".Her acting with Richard Burton in "Woolf" is so good I'm not even sure that it's acting.
She's had lots of very bad roles with horrible scripts and direction, but you can't deny that she's one of the all-time best.
rent Virginia Woolf and tell me again that you think she's no good.
scares the shit out of me!
if you don't get goosebumps watching her work that character, you can't be human.
Follow Ups:
She's made a few good films. I think she was really good in CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF, which, except for VIRGINIA WOLFE is the last decent movie she's made. She started out fine and slowly devolved into a pathetic cliche. She is worth about 40 bazillion Pam Anderson's, however. And yes, I know that is damning her with faint praise.
Gotta agree with the assessment of WAOVW. Taylor in that flick is simply astounding! In Cat on a Hot Tin Roof she is feminine sexuality personified.
I totally agree. WAOVW is a stunning, inspired film and the tension between Taylor and Burton is still palpable even after 35 years. It's as if Albee wrote the play with them in mind and I can't picture any other actors in those roles. I ran it last week and it blows me away every time. A masterpiece. She also had capital knockers in "Butterfield 8".
