Came across a sale today and found some old VHS in great condition.
in the sci-fi, Dark Star, which was made in 71 by John Carpenter and Dan O'Bannon (alien) in a newly prepared version -- presented as originally intended by the filmmakers. I don’t ever recall seeing this movie. (Any opinions?) Other than that I found, The Day the Earth stood still, DeF-Con 4, and Son of Godzilla. Of course for me, the first one I Pop in is Godzilla... you can listen and type and know whats going on in most of the movies. In the Horror,
The mask 1961, 3-D (Elvira)
Dracula vs. Frankenstein, the Al Adam classic. (By vsv-very strange video)
Night of the Living Dead
Day of the Dead
Demons
Night of the Demons, (unrated version)Any keepers?
The movie Demons is produced by Dario Argento. From what I remember it’s a crazy horror zombie flick with all the creepiness of the producer. I like every movie Dario Argento has ever made and this one I have only seen once, so it will be fun to see it and listen to its crazy sound track -Rick Springfield- Motley Crue -Pretty Maids- Go West -The Adventures- Billy Idol -Accept- Saxon. I'm pretty sure I'll keep it around. Also another interesting one (The Covered Wagon) a 1923 Silent movie, a recreation of the pioneering west. I Love documentary realism.

Follow Ups:
"Day The Earth Stood Still" is a genuine classic and on my list of the greatest sci-fi films of all time."Dark Star" is excellent. Not quite a classic but a very fine film.
"Night Of the Living Dead" and "Day of the Dead" are great. If the "Night" the 1968 version or the remake? The original is a horror classic. I don't like the remake quite as much but it's still a top flick. "Day" is a sequel and is really strange but quite good.
"Night of the Demons" is very good. Haven't seen the unrated version but I suspect it's just a bit gorier.
"The Mask" is grade-z cheapo junk. Worth a watch if you have nothing better to do. Different from the Jim Carrey "The Mask", which is a far, far better film. Also very different from "MASK", which starred Cher and which is an excellent film about a very brave kid with a horribly disfiguring disease
"Dracula vs. Frankenstein" is sub-grade-z. It's so bad it's funny. You should see "Billy the Kid vs. Dracula." It's even worse, hard as that is to believe. It's another of those that are so unbelievably awful that you can't turn it off. It's on a par with "Robot Monsters", "Plan 9 From Outer Space", and "The Spice Girls Movie."
Hi Danj!
Thank you for the reply!I saw Dark Star and really liked it! Do you know the theme music for the movie Halloween? (The spooky piano music) well, in the movie dark star you will hear the same music, but a little different. John Carpenter may be the real creator of the famed Halloween tune, since it was stated in the credits that Carpenter was the music man and this movie was made well before Halloween.
Night of the living dead is the original, b&w. it is my second copy!
Night of the demons is a pretty gory movie from what I remember... so watching the unrated version might be a little too much! The silent movie "covered wagon" is totally awesome! This movie might have turned me on to silent movies. Amazing!
I would think Carpenter himself is the composer. Remember the synth theme from "Escape From New York"? Also Creepy Classic Carpenter.Best,
Thom
Is the third one. Dawn of the Dead (no2) is the better of them by a mile. Bolt_Snypr nees to find "Dawn" to get the full set. It is worth it.Cheers

Yes! (Day of the Dead) ... I'm looking for it!
These are the type of movies that must be part of the life long collection! OK, another one I'm missing is (THE EVIL DEAD)
I remember seeing Evil Dead in the Cinema - Fantastic. Buckets of multi coloured blood flying all over everything. Where Dawn of the Dead is a tragic comedy, Evil Dead is a hilarious parody of many films that weren't even made at the time ("I know what you did ...", "Scary Movie" etc etc etc).Cheers
