I am thinking about buying a used ssp-25. I listen to 80% music 20% movies and have heard that this is a great pre/pro. Espeacially for 2ch lovers. What I would like to know is, What are peoples opinions about the ssp-25 and the ssp-30? I would include the ssp-75 and the ssp-50 into my list except, I can't afford the ssp-75 and I've been told to stay away from the ssp-50(due to failers with this pre/pro). Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

The SSP25 has balanced in and out outputs that the SSP 30 doesn't have. I have not heard the 30 but my dad has the 25 and it's very good on music using analog bypass. I think you get the 25 used for around $1300. As for HT features, the 25 is very basic however, it's still an excellent pre/pro for the money.
I haven't heard the SSP-30, but the SSP-25 is one of the best sounding pre/pros I've ever heard. New it was a bargain, and used it is a steal!
I have zero experience with the ssp30, however I have owned lots of different theater preamps and two channel systems. Right now I am happiest with a classe ssp25 in my main room. I also listen to 80% music (everything from bach to the dead) and 20%movies. If the ssp 30 is really better I would be amazed ... and tempted to sell my ssp25. The rest of the system is made up of Martin Logans and Maggies surrounds.

I'm running an SSP-30 with Audio Research D-130 amps and Vandersteen speakers (3A Sigs and VCC-5 front, 1Bs rear). I auditioned the SS-25 extensively, but got to wait until the SSP-30 was available. Excellent pre-pro at this price point. See the recent review (one or two issues ago)in Perfect Vision of the SSP-30...I agree with everything they say, although perhaps not quite so over the top.The SSP-25 sounds almost as good as the SSP-30 for music and surround, but not quite (say 95%). The samples I listened to did consistently have a problem with picking up the first couple of seconds of the audio on CDs whereas the SSP-30 does not. The SSP-30 also has a 7.1 input for future modes (e.g. SACD, DVD-A) - I'm not sure if the SSP-25 does. On the other hand, you should be able to pick up an SSP-25 for WELL below the $3,000 MSRP.
Personally, I'd go for the SSP-30 if your budget allows, but I listen to a lot of music and that lag in the SSP-25 would be really annoying for me. However, if your budget could use the bargain prices available for the SSP-25, you will probably be quite happy with it.
