Does anyone know if the DVP-NS755V DVD player from Sony has the chroma bug or not?

The expensive Meridian 800 is supposed to suffer from this. However I've no idea what the fuss is about. From what I can gather it is a storm in a teacup. Try the Sony out. If you cannot spot anything wrong then relax and enjoy the picture & sound.
However, the chip brand that DON'T have the chroma bug are generally regarded as the superior brand of chip. The chroma bug is an easy way to tell if you have the better chips, without opening the unit. Good chips do not mean good implementation though, so it's kind of a geeky thing. Like knowing your car can do 200mph, but never going over 75.

Do you really feel that something that occurs .0001% of the time and only when you're looking for it, is important?

I borrowed the Toy Story 3 disc box set, which according to the chroma article at secrets of home theater, most clearly shows the problem. Using the DVD menu and the 2 scenes they described I could not detect the problem, but I found the problem hard to detect (although I could see it) on a much older DVD player on an older TV. I can say using the Sony NS-755V and a Sony 40XBR700 TV I could not detect any chroma bug, the DVD was set to progressive output.
