How does Sony Wega stack up against Proton? Looking for 32-in. direct-view monitors. Thanks for feedback.

Follow Ups:
Proton was discontinued by RCA last year. The current equivalent is the RCA Scenium line. While the scenium sets offer decent picture quality, reliability, IMO, is worse than the Sony (which isn't the best available either).I would also make sure to check out 32 inch TVs from Toshiba and JVC. Also the Panasonic Tau sets are worth looking at. Any of these brands should compare well with the Wegas, and should cost less, too. In any case, make sure you avoid any set that has scan velocity modulation that is not defeatable.

My impression is that Proton has much less support and distribution. I don't know what their quality is like. Based on these three things, I would be tempted to consider the Sony.

You were confusing Proscan (RCA) with Proton. Proton is very high end equiptment. I have an 11 year old 32" that keeps up or out does my sons 32" sony. They are made with high end components and cost and weigh more then sonys. Look at protons and let your eyes be the judge.
