I'm expecting the Sony 27 WEGA KV27FV300 to arrive today. I'm not into HT and still use an 'ol VCR. I also have to use a cable box to unscramble pay-pre-view. My question is: Does anyone have any tips for connecting the VCR and cable box to the TV so I can watch any channel (including scrambled through the box) while recording another channel and vice versa?I don't think there's a way to watch one scrambled while recording another scrambled, but I don't expect to ever need that.
I'm sure the manual will give good info and I plan to ask the delivery people, but my experience with things like this is there are many possible combinations of hook-up so if anyone here has any tips on the best signal and how to make it all work, I'd appreciate it. Thanks "The truth is out there." Fran

Follow Ups:
i would use a 2-way splitter, which will feed 'raw'(non-scrambled)cable to your cable input on your tv,the other cable goes to the cable box. then either use an a/v patch cable(if you have that connection on your descrambler/cable box)or coax into your vcr; then USE AN A/V CABLE FROM YOUR VCR TO YOUR TV'S A/V INPUT. this should give the best picture/sound, AND accomplish your objective.

Thanks - it happened that what you described is what I did. It's pretty close to one of the setups they show in the manual. When I asked my question didn't the TV or manual, so was going into my anxiety attack mode. It came late yesterday. It's taking a lot of getting use to it. I'm not sure how much "we'll" like it - there's so much difference between the new look and that of the 27" 1989 Zenith that smoked itself.I'm a little disappointed that I may not be able to use PIP in some cases and also that I turn the VCR on to use the cable box. I need to get more cables and splitters!! Thanks again. Fran

I did some experimenting and by adding a coax from my "VCR out" to the TV "Aux in," I can view the cable box with the VCR off. Apparently this allows he signal to go through the VCR while it's turned off. Thanks again. Fran
