  You don't say what your budget is, or your gear. The short answer, without more info, is optical is good if the cable is made from glass--not plastic--otherwise coax is better. That's my opinion.

  Do some research on this topic, because it's been asked many times before.

    I agree! but coax can be used for longer distances than optical, even if it is glass.
