Is this an ebay ripoff or what? I've been looking on ebay lately for a sony 7700 dvd player. Auction # 3016798195 ended on April 9. Currently there is one for auction (#3019933256) that has the exact same picture, description, mispelled word and reason for selling (bought a sacd player). I can see lifting a picture for representation of the item but isn't this a little too much? Maybe there is no dvd player at all and this is an out and out fraud in progress. I couldn't see any connections between the two sellers via feedback comparison but that doesn't mean anything if someone is determined to cover their tracks. Personally, I would never buy anything that doesn't show the actual unit up for sale. Thoughts anybody?

Follow Ups:
Many people go to the manufacturer's website and get a picture and specs to post on the auction. This is good information, though in my opinion one should go look that stuff up anyways before you buyt anything. Sometime they will show the data for a similar model instead of the actual model. It is always better when the actual product is used. I usually email the seller and ask for better pictures if I'm not sure. Some places sell so much stuff that they don't mess around with actual pictures because it would be impossible.

I would probably say they're just lazy. I agree with you on not wanting to buy anything that doesn't have the actual item for sale pictured, but I have noticed that a lot of people either don't put up pictures or put up pictures from other auctions or from the manufacturer's website. But I generally don't bid on anything without first asking the seller a few questions. I do this first just to clarify issues missing in the listing, but also to get a read on the seller and how quickly they respond.Another thing I always do on eBay is check out the feedback and concentrate on any negatives. I have even e-mailed the person who gave them negative feedback at times (and other have done the same for feedback I've left).
I've only been really burned once and unfotunately that was one of the most expensive things I ever bought (an older Sony camcorder). Generally I stay away from most electronics with moving parts on eBay. I would never buy a used CD or DVD player there. I did pick up a Luxman receiver and also got a decent amount of music production gear with good results, never with any bad results.
My advice... ask questions of the seller. If you get any hint of suspiscion, don't do it. Better safe than ripped off.

Thanks for the responses. I like the idea of not buying electronics with moving parts. BTW, this auction seems to be dying on the vine.
