quick question. I KNOW i'm not supposed to leave my HDTV on a channel with an emblem on the bottom for the channel, but my GOSH - what is with every damn channel having an emblem on it??!!! they (the channels and cable companies) know that everyone is trying to get HDTV's (and this happens to regular tv's too im told) it's almost a hassle watching it, I paid so much for it, and im afraid to use it and get the emblem too burned in!!My question is this. my daughter watches the cartoon channels, and I'm wondering WHAT IS THE SAFE TIME TO LET SOMEONE WATCH A CHANNEL (which is practically all of the damn things now) WITH AN EMBLEM ON THE BOTTOM????? (I know you dont want to) ONE HOUR OK? TWO HOURS?
help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm tired of zooming in to lose the emblem, does anyone have an idea of real world "OK" timeframe?

Been checking with a retailer, a manufacturer, cable company, a broadcaster and consumer advocate. No one will accept responsibility for the logos. I have yet to hear back from the broadcaster for their logo display. All manufacturers will tell you that if you watch any channel that permanently displays a logo, the warrantee becomes null and void. Isn't that a nice howdy-do! I suggested to all of them that it would be the same as watching a Warner Bros. or 20th Century Fox logo in a movie theatre throughout the entire film. I am sure theatre goers would protest from one end of the country to the other. How come we HDTV owners are so quiet?

Set the contrast and brightness to a reasonable level using the Avia or Video Essentials test discs and I doubt you will have a problem.I've had my HD set for 3 + years and have not noticed any issues with burn in.
Or even better have the set calibrated by an ISF technician (who can also advise you on burn in questions).
