Hi everybody over here! I usually post on the Vinyl Asylum, but got a TV question for ya'll.I'm noticing my 32" Sony, m# KV-32HS500, has little ghosts and "seconds" in it (like seeing two small items instead of one). Also, at times I can see a bar slowly moving up the screen. Mostly this stuff happens on certain cable channels, but not all of them. Video via DVD seems crisp and clean, so to me it seems I got cable troubles.
Question is this- Do TV's need tune-ups every now and then? This way I can show my cable company the problem is theirs. Also, are there DVD's I can use to check and possibly adjust the picture quality of my TV? (Hey, I spin vinyl. I'm anal!)
Thanks for reading this.
(And PLEASE don't tell the guys over in VA I was here!)

Have to go with Estes on this one. Re-do all af the connections from as close to the pole with the incoming wires, right up to the TV.His advise was solid (de-oxit and replace all cabeling and splitters possible) and I believe you'll be back on track.
The "tuning" DVD's are great, but they won't correct a bad incoming signal.

HERETIC! What are you doing here, when you could be listening to vinyl ;-) Oops, I'm here (insert Monty Python reference here). To answer your question, there is the Video Essentials Disc & there are adjustments for your TV. The first thing, would be to clean ALL the connections, especially the cable connections. Do the TV & where the cable enters the house & any splitters. Contact cleaner, detoxit, etc will work. Replace crappy splitters with those from Monster Cable or Ultralink. Use high quality RG-6 where possible, less signal loss and better picture quality.
Is this what you're referring to? Got the picture from Amazon.com.If so, I'll get it. Now, how can I find out about those adjustments? Are they the ones on the screen, or are their knobs/pots I gotta screw with like in the old sets?
Please let me know, or I'll report you to Liver Donor's!

Yes that is the disc. You can also get it directly from the manufacturer. Setup is done via the TV remote, if the set is newer. You can adjust sharpness, contrast, etc. in that fashion. The best setup is via an ISF certified tech. What you are complaining about is clearly a cable problem. As I said before, clean everything before you call them, as it may help & the cable guys tend to be clueless. I usually recommend dumping cable, as it awful, satellite is better.
