How could someone take advantage of a home theater 7.1 receiver when all movies are recorded 5.1. Where does the other extra 2 channels get their signals from? Is it a delay reproduction from the 2 rear channels of the 5.1 format?
How does this work to get the 360 degrees effect that 7.1 receiver manufacturers claim?Sorry I posted first on the General Forum but I noticed to late that there was a forum for Home Theater.

This might help. Basically it works similar to the front L/C/R sound stage of the old pro-logic decoding system.
