Am considering mounting my new ML cinema ctr spk on the wall above my sony xbr tv which is also wall mounted. What are others thoughts on ceter channel spk placement. My choices are on rack under tv. On floor in front of tv. Wall mount over tv.
Follow Ups:
I used to have my center placed high and angled toward the listening area, sat on top of my hd tv. The way my system is laid out and after some custimization, I was able to place it at the same height as my L and R speakers and what a difference. the sound "panned" nicely around the room, dialogue was clearer and more true to the movie because it is "in your face"Unless there is no alternative, place it at ear level with the L and R.
Do your best to keep the height of the C speaker's mids/highs as close to the height of the L and R speakers' mids/highs. As sound pans from one side of the room to the other, it should flow in a smooth flat horizontal plane. If your C speaker is too high or too low, you risk changing that smooth flat plane to a hill or a valley.
