I recently bought a dvd player that I know works because we hooked it up to the jacks on the front of the tv in the motel we were staying at and watched a movie, as soon as I pressed play the movie started. I brought the dvd home and hooked it up to my tv (a Zenith) and it doesn't work. The only diferance is that the jacks in the motel were on the front of the tv and the jacks on my tv are on the back...they look the same but my tv is about 10 years old. In my dvd book it says to follow the directions in my tv mannual but there is nothing in that book that mentions even hooking up an aux game? Am I going to be able to use this tv with the dvd? Thank you for any help. Barb

Follow Ups:
Ocd brought up a good point... First make sure that you have selected the correct INPUT on your TV menu. Are you running the standard old Composite Video input? This would be a single video cable that looks just like the audio cables with the RCA plugs on each end.
Are you running an S-Video cable? This single video cable would have a connector with a few small pins inside.
Are you running 3 component video cables, one Red, one Green, one Blue?
If you're running (RGB) component video it is possible that your older set might not support 480p progressive scan. Switch the DVD player to output a 480i interlaced signal.

does the tv have a menu? sometimes you have to turn on or activate the input on the tv. if the tv has a menu check it out and see what relates to inputs. good luck.
